Message From Your ACHE Regent - Fall 2021

Message From Your ACHE Regent

Fall 2021

Dear Colleagues,

As we reflect on our experiences this year, there are certainly plenty of challenges that we have needed to address in our lives, organizations, and communities. We’ve experienced the ups and downs of the pandemic, staffing shortages, and even crisis standards of care being implemented in New Mexico. Through our experiences, we’ve learned many valuable lessons, such as the COVID-19 pandemic is truly a marathon and not a sprint, and our staff needs to feel appreciated and encouraged on an ongoing, regular basis.

During a time when it is easy to see so many challenges that need our attention, it is also important and helpful to pause and reflect upon what we are thankful for in our lives. My parents recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. One of the things they decided to do to celebrate was to write down 50 special memories from their marriage. They were surprised how quickly they got to 50 and could have listed many more memories. I am thankful for my family, my friends, my faith, and my life. I am grateful for you and your courage, wisdom, and caring leadership in your organizations. I am thankful for the resilience of our healthcare staff and their care, concern, and compassion towards their patients. I am thankful for the medical, scientific community that continues to develop vaccines, medications, and treatment protocols that are helping in the fight against COVID-19 and many other diseases. During these final weeks of 2021, I’d encourage you to take a moment to pause and reflect on what you are thankful for in your life.

Please keep in mind that ACHE has many flexible educational options to assist in your professional development. The 2022 ACHE Congress on Healthcare Leadership is scheduled in-person for March 28-31 in Chicago. Registration for the ACHE Congress is available starting December 1. Some of the other education opportunities include virtual Face to Face education, online seminars, webinars, and on-demand, recorded presentations that provide flexible opportunities to earn your education credits. Have you ever thought about becoming Board Certified in Healthcare Management? When you earn the FACHE credential, you can show your commitment to the profession by becoming Board Certified. Perhaps you would like some guidance or helpful insights on your career advancement goals. ACHE also has many tools that can assist you in advancing your career. Our local ACHE Chapters NMHE and SHEA have been holding educational and networking events this year that can also assist you with your professional development. Please be sure to watch for communications from your local chapter on upcoming programs and events.

I’d like to extend a special welcome to these new members of ACHE.
